Department of Dermatology

Introduction

The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy was established at Government Medical College, Surat in 1967 and the Post Graduate centre was started in 1982. As the branch of dermatology has evolved immensely over the years, the department at Government Medical College, Surat has grown beyond leaps and bounds. The newer equipments and techniques are being introduced in the department at a scorching pace. The department now boasts of being in the elite list of very few colleges in the Government set up possessing CO2 LASER, Diode Laser, Long Pulsed Nd YAG LASER, and Skin USG. We are seeing almost 450-550 outdoor patients daily and the number of indoor patients is 30-40 per month on an average apart from the references from various departments of New Civil Hospital, Surat.

Radiofrequency Cautery: Various minor procedures like removal of wart, corn, xanthelasma, angio-keratomas,cysts are done.

• Electro Cautery • Micro derma abrasion • Diamond fraiz microdermabrasion • Derma abrasion [Manual and Motorized] • Cryotherapy: in the treatment of warts, molluscum, cystic acne, keloid, seborrheic warts, acne scars. • Chemical cauterization: phenol, T.C.A., podophyllin. • All types of Chemical Peels: glycolic peels; TCA peels. • LASER Therapy: - • Vitiligo Surgeries ( punch grafting, suction blister grafting, split thickness grafting) • Iontophoresis for palmo-plantar Hyperhydrosis • Nail surgery • PUVA Therapy 1.
